PMR (Private mobile radio) systems
PMR radio systems are still the mainstay of most taxi and private hire companies. Many comnpanies have chosen to explore the route of digital dispatch of GPRS (The mobile phone network) Although this is perfectly acceptable in some areas it is also very evident that a lot of Taxi and private hire businesses have operational areas that are not 100% covered by any one cellular operator.
Private mobile radio is the obvious solution, the coverage is limited but the communication area is guaranteed and under most circumstances highly reliable when compared to the mobile telephone infrastructure. It is therefore quite common to see Taxi and private hire systems with PDA dispatch and still using conventional VHF radios for voice communication. Although initially this appears to be an overcomplication it actually provides resilience in the event of either system failing.
In keeping with the Diplomat philosophy of total reliability and appropriate application of technology we have chosen Tait and Vertex as the manufacturer of the radios that we supply
The Tait 8000 range of two way radios
manufacturer of Private mobile radios that have unrivalled voice and data performance, is approved to all relevant
European directives and also covers every European PMR band.
Tait radio equipment has an unrivalled reputation for reliability and after sales support. In its standard form it can be connected to a Diplomat Lynx telematics product and work without any additional engineering.
The Vertex range of radios
In addition to the Tait range of 2 way radio equipment Diplomat have a very cost effective VHF or UHF alternative called the Vertex. The Vertex range has recently been purchased by Motorola so unrivaled quality and reliability are assured. These radios are fitted with a small circuit that enables them to be connected directly to any Diplomat Lynx Telemetics equipment.
