Datax 5 MDT

Datax 5 Mobile Data Terminal with Navigation

The Datax-5 mobile data terminal has fast become the industry standard datahead for the taxi and private hire industry. It is very low cost and will outperform every alternative method of data despatch.

Designed For The Job

The Datax-5 is the culmination of two decades of Mobile data terminal development. Now condensed into a small 5 Inch portable computer. Although it is essentially a mobile phone the Datax-5 will out perform all smartphones due to its superior antennas and vehicle optimised GPS / GSM receivers.

The Datax 5 can support and connect to many peripherals such as our T2 Taxi meter. The Cab-Cam in vehicle camera and also Mobile POS and Loyalty card readers.

Unique Geofence Technology

The technique of Geofencing is widely used in vehicle tracking applications but our use of Geofencing to define ranks within Diplomat Navigator booking and dispatch is very unique.

The Datax 5 and Datax3 system is the first GSM or PMR/GPRS taxi and private hire solution to contain the boundaries of the various rank areas within the memory of the vehicle mounted data equipment.

-

In the taxi office, staff define the boundaries of their ranks by drawing polygon shapes on the maps on their PC. Once those polygons have been drawn the points that define them are automatically up loaded to the mobile data equipment when they log on.

As vehicles drive around, the data terminals receive GPS fixes from the GPS receiver.

The driver is constantly updated of his current rank and status on the display.

As soon as the vehicle crosses a boundary into a new rank a status and location update data packet is automatically sent to the office.

This ensures that the rank positions of the vehicles are accurately updated withing a few meters of crossing the boundary.

The same Geofence technology allows the Data Terminal to be updated with the location of speed cameras and will warn the driver if they approaches one while exceeding the speed limit for the road he is on.
